I am trying to avoid wasting money on SEO services that claim to work

The only way to get free traffic online is by advertising in freead sites or search engine optimisation.

SEO does work but some companies do not offer a complete pakage eg.. they’ll simply offer link building or on page optimisation.

You should look for a company that provides

- A full service , review, diagnosis, keyword analysis, on page optimisation, auditing, link building, and reporting

- Make sure you don’t get stuck in a contract for more than 1 month

- Make sure they have some sort of certification, (any one can drum up testimonials)

SEO is the only way to get real free visitors to your site, if you don’t want to learn you could always learn it yourself by reading a good blog and getting involved in forums.

I started a little website but it seems not to be getting much traffic. What can I do to get more traffic? The site was complete like yesterday. I only got like 90 unique page views. That is very little. …what can i do?

90 page views after just building your site is not too shabby!

One thing you want to start with is to submit your site url to Google, Yahoo and Live (MSN). There’s no telling how long it will take to get indexed but that’s one very important step you don’t want to skip.

Then you need to start doing some serious article marketing to get the word out about your website. Find some forums that are related to your website’s niche and start posting. All of this is meant to get back links to your site so that Google will notice you.

The other thing I use is http://hurleypix.com/3wl This costs a monthly fee - but it works very effectively at giving you very nice rankings in Google. Look over the site if you want to learn more.

Another option is by using web 2.0 sites such as Digg, Twitter, FaceBook, Craigs List, Stumbleupon, etc. You have to get ‘in there’ and communicate and learn about these sites, build your profile up, etc, but they are pretty good too at motivating people to come look at your websites.

There’s other ways as well including press releases and contributing in forums often.

You don’t use Alexa to check your website traffic. Alexa is NOT a website statistics software — it only counts the stats from those who downloaded the Alexa toolbar, which may mean just 1% or so of your audience. Alexa SHOULD NOT be used as a measure of website statistics, just some indication of how you rank compared to others (which is still iffy at best)

It is with own-free-website and the URL ends in tl. so it will not be memorable as a .com website. I put google ads, and some products for sales. Am I doomed for failure because it is a free website ? Anybody had any success?

If your web site is important to you to get better ranking its not a good idea to register a free domain. If you want to register .com domain its better if you register it for 10 years instead of 1 year as google will find it as long time business…
Its only $7 to register .com domain name or if you are in UK its only £8 to register .co.uk for 2 years…
